I've got the FA Cup anniversary kit with the sponsorship being matte blue to give the effect of being sponsorless and it has that sort of feel to it. It does feel different from my other recent ones, I have a range of them from the 90s, 00s and 10s and one from '21 that feels much thinner - more plastic. The very oldest one I own, a retro one from the 70s) is very much chunkier as it is made of cotton. It's nothing like that. But it's subtle enough that I hadn't thought about it until you said.
