Chalobah is clearly better at RB than Disasi for instance. The person who paid 45m for Disasi however needs Chalobah gone. Self interest above squad building. Having written my earlier post - i do think Disasi deserves a second season, no? The chopping and changing of CDs hasnt helped anyone settle and as someone posted, i thought him and Colwill played well as a partnership (if only for one match)
Popular Post Sabrina F.
"The Review" is all kinds of nonsense, in my opinion. The decision on a coach isn't made on May 20th, it's made in March or April at worst. Bayern made a decision on Tuchel in February, De Zerbi most likely was done in Feb/March, Klopp announced his departure in January and his decision was likely made at the start of the season. Heck, Emma Hayes said she told players she was leaving in October and the decision was probably made last summer. So if I was a betting woman, I'd say there's a power struggle at play here. Pochettino knows he's saved the club from further embarrassment by turning the narrative around on the direction of the club with the recent results, I think he sees a path to success here if the squad isn't messed with and is surgically improved, but of course, he's got not much decision making power. In response to this, you have all of these briefs definitely fed by the club about talking to the Hot Candidate of the summer (which, this year, is testament to how poor the coaching market is, it's McKenna, maaaaybe Amorim, not much), so the sporting directors are telling Poch, in this model, you're a cog in the machine, The Project must go on. Pochettino was the ultimate company man at Spurs & at PSG. We all know what it's like to be Levy's coach, and at PSG only when he left did he say in an interview to Spanish journalists that PSG signed him with the instruction to make it work with their old superstars and not to have him run his style of football. So the fact that they couldn't even get along with the Yesest of Yes Men is worrying for them. Pochettino had a Year 0 squad: a collection of individuals meeting for the first time, who also were discovering what PL football entails. An MLS GK, Madueke, Mudryk, Colwill with half a season of PL football experience, Palmer with 2 PL starts, Jackson with one full season of pro football, no midfield depth, and his most senior players have been: Gallagher in his 4th PL season, Caicedo in his 2nd full PL season, Enzo in his 2nd season in Europe. Many coaches would have lost the plot in November. Pochettino's best virtue is not panicking, and many ways, his indulgence and patience with these extremely frustrating players. I suspect the world of football agents and coaches and players and footballers' families and entourage, will be talking about what an impossible job the Chelsea job is, and that Pochettino somehow made it work, just like last season all the talk about the amount of players in the dressing room and the training ground spread all around Europe and seeped into mainstream media everywhere. We're the losers here. In all departments of the club, Pochettino has been the one employee performing at the required level this season, with 63pts & 6th place (where all the bookmakers & prediction models had us, essentially). Meanwhile, the marketing department, the medical department, the squad builders & recruiters, the people in charge of the club's financial sustainability ... they've all performed below par compared to Pochettino, to say the least. And so it goes. As poor as we have played at times, the football this season has been the least fucked up aspect of the club, the most conducive to some hope, normalcy and cheer. But there's no football in the summer, so the other department and employees get to really ... shine. Thank goodness for the Euros. 8

No surprise it came in a game where we were defending deep in numbers and playing on the counter. Disasi's issue mainly stems from being a bit slow and hesitant defending wide spaces. Couple of games and goals spring to mind.

Yeah but if Arsenal or Liverpool had half their side out for an entire season they wouldn't have been second and third would they? I'm no fan of Pochettino but you're so blinkered it's unreal.

Could have been a bit better and could have been a bit worse. But it's not really that important in the scheme of things whether we finished a few places higher or lower because deepdown everyone knows this is not a team for the season that has just ended or even next season. Two seasons from now we'll have a squad full of players with many of their peak years to come but already with years of experience behind them. We'll get better and better and won't need to be splashing out in the transfer windows, just a player or two here and there as we go along. We can easily draw clear of the likes of Villa, Spurs, Newcastle and Utd by the end of the 25/26 season.

They will not hang around after next season if the club does not qualify for the CL. Example if CP is the real deal, how long do you think he will accept £80k per week? Floyd25
They want a coach who completely buys in to their vision without question and just does whatever they’re told to do, hence the interest in Kieran McKenna, because he’s a young coach who they can just push around. Smart businessmen no doubt, but as if they enjoy shooting themselves in the foot. Edited May 21 by Floyd25
