There are coaches better than Pochettino currently working for 'smaller' clubs on relatively small salaries. A competent manager ≠ a big name manager.

So why are they choosing smaller clubs and smaller salaries?

They aren't on the radar of the Chelsea brain trust unfortunately.

Bielsa is the man to kick start this underperforming team, he has already proven what he can do with a championship team and make them punch above their weight.

that said if Poch gets 54ps or above out of the current squad without January panic buys he has earned his coin for the season.

Have you seen our injury record in the last two years?  We can’t keep them fit now, let alone hiring a manager who is going to run them into the ground and demands intense physical running for 90mins.

I can see Enzo , James, Chilwell ,thriving under that regime. Caicedo and Gallagher would be the only obvious players capable of playing for him.

We're on course for a lot less than 54 points.

When a player reaches the stage where he has 18 months left on his deal you have to make a decision. You consider their body of work at the club up to that point and make a projection. If they're trending in the wrong direction then you cut them loose.

Well Poch now has 18 months left on his deal, there is very little to be pleased about since his arrival and he's trending in the wrong direction.

No the squad given to him by scouts is not meeting the expectations of the scouts. If any of the squad assembled had Poch’s input then there might be a case for pumping him.

There are other managers who have had zero input in their squads. We've just lost to Wolves who are now level on points with us. Their manager took over in August after the season had started and had zero input into the squad. Is their squad better than ours?

Aston Villa is largely made up of players that pre-date Emery and look at the job he's doing there.

All these excuses for bad coaching simply doesn't wash.

I like Emery, but is he massively overachieving? Or was Gerrard dreadful and hugely underachieving? Vill  built a good squad of players for the last 2-3 seasons now. For all Emery good work, many don’t factor in the dreadful job Gerrard was doing previously.
Similar with O’Neill really . A promising young manager, but he is hardly overachieving with Wolves. Lopategui came in around this time last year, spent quite a bit of money in August and turned the club around.
There is always far more context rarely considered with how good and bad a manager is performing.

And the club under the previous regime did this with the likes of Rudi and the overrated Christensen to support TT to deliver a couple of trophies and top 4 finishes.

This season Villa acquired Leon Bailey and Pau Torres and both seem to be playing  well for them.  They seem to complement the rest of the squad and strengthen it.

It'd be fine initially, Bielsa would insist on coaching only the U21s for the first year of his deal anyway!

I repeat: Roberto de Zerbi.

Perfect dance partner for them tonight. Teams not engaging with Brighton and sitting off them are getting some success. What Brighton want are a team who are going to press high  up the field. Big Ange with his standard was of playing is the perfect opponent for De Zerbi.
Iraola was the one who showed the blueprint for success with De Zerbi’s Brighton, though they lost the game through bad luck and circumstances going against them.

Because they had a good game? When they weren’t in form no one was calling for De Zerbi. He’s a shiny new toy. Nothing against you Max - you’ve always been consistent - but I just don’t think he’s the answer. 😵‍💫

@Mark Kelly

you might be right.

Just watched the highlights of his latest press conference. The man seems to be heading down the jellyfish road.

thou shall not challenge the TBSD everything is rosy in the Chelsea garden.

He truly has no backbone he's the perfect foil for a diabolical sporting department.

He could question the amount of injuries

He could question the quality of the signings

He could question why the last four times we were rewarded with a penalty it was by VAR where the referees never saw it.

But he doesn't as he's a coward and is more interested in being employed than daring to rock the boat with the club the media or the PGMOL.

You reap what you sew and he's sewing absolutely nothing.

I think the board will sack him following the end of this season. Hopefully there is a break clause but knowing this board I doubt they would have inserted one....

Pochettino signed a two year deal. Based on performances this season who in their right mind would offer him an extension? Not even the dumb and dumber (Stewart and Winstanley) could justify giving him more years.

Pochettino will likely be gone at the end of this season and hopefully those who hired him and oversaw the squad building will be gone too.
