martin1905
Kane only has a year left on his contract, as much as they wouldn't want to sell him to us they will have very few options. I think there is very little doubt we will be looking at him.
boratsbrother
According to the Athletic, a number of our new signings regret coming here and want away. As far as I'm concerned, any player who is not up for the fight to try and turn the club around can jolly we'll do one!
Proud-Blue
I think there is zero chance of us signing Kane. Daniel Levy will just not sell to us this season, and he will not let Kane go for free. I also can't see why Kane would betray Spurs fans and sign for us. I think it's nailed on that he goes to Man United if he stays in the England. If he does, I think even Newcastle have a bigger chance of signing him than we do. It's pointless to even discuss it as a possibility imo. 1

Mark Kelly
Have you noticed how everyone else's players running down their contracts will be able to demand a decent fee except our players? Funny how it works.

The reality is that a quite a few clubs will be desperate to move players on. Look at Utd... there must be around 10 that ten Hag won't want to keep and over half a dozen whoever the new man at Spurs might be, for starters. It won't just be us... there'll be a glut of players on the market.

Bob Singleton
As it's the start of a new month, an overview of the gossip so far. As always this is just a bit of fun. Anything in red is either a new rumour or a change in circumstances (such as new contract signed) since the last update on 1st April. In most cases I've only noted the first rumour seen, but where a story changes (ie one claims a swap deal where no swap was in the original story) this has also been included. * Linked in Summer 2022 or January 2023 GOALKEEPERSRobert Sanchez * (Brighton & Hove Albion) - 1st Feb, Simon Philips (Twitter) David Raya * (Brentford) - 1st Feb, Daily Express; Backbiter
My big worries about our summer dealings are: 1. Boehly seems so clueless he's probably completely wrecked the finances with regard to FFP 2. Our desperation to offload 10-15 players means any potential buyers will take advantage of us, just as selling clubs have since the Abramovich takeover. Instead of a 'Chelsea tax' to extract a huge premium on fees, any buyers will pick up the players we need to sell on the cheap, and our income from sales will be a fraction of what it needs to be. 3. Many of our targets (if we are in a position to sign any of them) will look at the chaos of the past year and decide that joining other, better-run clubs is their preferred option. I think he and Clearlake are now wise to the fact that they screwed things up re FFP and the negative to using long contracts. If not further problems ahead.......... 2. I think as businessmen they will recognise the mark-down on players we deem surplus to the squad. 3. Playing for the new manager should convince new players now they are in for the long term so if this is keeping players away as businessmen they will change that model. Many of our targets (if we are in a position to sign any of them) will look at the chaos of the past year and decide that joining other, better-run clubs is their preferred option. 1. Don't think this is the case personally. All the big transfer fees are spread out over long deals, meaning smaller book values and hits to FFP. While the wages for these players are very controlled compared to the old era of handing out huge base salaries. May be a higher squeeze because we've been shit, but don't see the deals we've handed out this season as being the basis to any FFP issues. 2. The vast majority on the scrap heap aren't the sort that'll be generating premium fees, so this is a non-issue in my book. It's going to be more about clearing bodies and some of the ridiculous wages we've handed to shite like Pulisic. Thankfully, a lot of the deadweight are in the final 12-24 months of their contracts so their on book values are going to be on the lower end and below their likely market value. Those like Mount, Gallagher, and Kovacic for example who have uncertain futures will sell themselves easily, and that's where we'll likely make the bulk of revenue if we choose or are forced into selling. 3. The situation can be looked at in various ways. Some may see a chaotic mess right now, some may see the potential of what's possible once the dust settles. Once we clear the shelves a little, have a greater idea of what's left, we're only a couple of smart signings away from being in a better position with plenty of room to grow. Particularly if we've got a proper coach on hand to lead. 1

ROTG
One would hope the next Coach is looking at the like of Leicester, Everton and most of the teams who are in the relegation fight to determine if there are any tactical recruitment of snr players willing to come and be part of a squad and happy to bench warm for a season or two. The club spent £33m on KK, who form in the PL is no better than Tarkowski, Mee who were both part of the Burnley fire sale.

So buying from Burnley is good and this isn't the first time you've mentioned it and they got relegated but buying Brighton Level players is bad and they're on the verge of European football . Dwight MacNeill went to Everton , how is that going for him? Funny old game .

Pay attention MK - I said tactical Snr players with PL milage on the clock and are prepared to be a squad member and could do a job when asked, maybe even a leader within the squad. BTW - Dwight McNeil cost £17m - 5 goal 2 assists the season in a relegation team, how does that compare to Pulisic, Zyech, Mudryk, Madueke? Your right it really funny when you look at the stats of £17m vs £200m of chelsea talent

Imho, all we have at the moment is a hope that the new signings are going to make significant progress and become good enough to get us back to being top four and progress from there The big worry for me is this. We know the majority of the old squad is simply not good enough to ever get us back to title challenging again and they need to be moved on over the next few windows. Perhaps an even bigger worry are the new signings. Imho, so far, only W Forfana and Badiashile have shown signs of being able to grown into the quality we need and both of them have looked wobbly after a good start at the club. I watched highlights of the Brighton v Wolves game on YouTube the other day. Nevermind us tackling the likes of City, we are light-years away from the fast flowing, technical football of Brighton. That is how far we have fallen, and it's going to take at least a couple of years to sort out this absolute shambolic state we are in now, no matter who the manager is going to be!
