I think that is a fantastic offer if true but certainly doesn’t fit in with our wage structure that we were supposedly sticking ridgedly to.
Our finances are actually looking ok at the moment but I don’t think they would have with that deal. Tbh,  if that is legit and he turned that down he can fck right off.

That KDH transfer looks weirder and weirder by the day.

Absolutely not. We're still short on quality in several areas (GK, LB, DM and CF).

Spent a lot of money for no reason, £280m to be exact, but if you named our best 11 now it would almost entirely feature players who were at the club last year.

Yes, another huge amount of money spent on not a single upgrade of any position.😡 For that money we could have bought a top class keeper, CB and striker and not only be nailed on certs for top four, but also taken us a lot closer to the top three as well.  Instead, we have blown it on a lot of mediocrity to pad out an already overblown squad.

Because available top class keepers, CB's and strikers grow on trees.

Not quite the same as popping around the corner to your local store for a loaf of bread.

Do you remember the spiel of the "judge us on our 4-window strategy"? Absolute cobblers wasn't it? I recently heard Maresca say that we now don't need to win games either. Incredible drop off - we were Champions of Europe 3 years ago; we've just lost to Servette (who?) trying to qualify for the Euro Mickey Mouse Cup.

Are you telling me we couldn't have got a significantly better keeper for £90m? A better CB for £90m and a very good CF for £90m?

We've padded out positions which didn't need padding out, which is what I'm most angry about. I very much  supported the owners original plan, vbut imho they've completely lost the plot now and seem to be throwing vast sums of money arouund in pure desperation with little serious thinking about how to challenge City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

If you read the latest briefings that are going out, the net spend is actually very low and the wage bill is being reduced. So they give the appearance of spending vast sums, but really they are moving out overpaid experienced players and replacing them with young players in the hope that they prove to be Premier League level. Early days but I doubt that Veiga, Tosin, KDH, Guiu and the Jorge Mendes Vanity Project will prove to be the level we need.

They are trying to do something that has never been done, because they think they are smarter than everyone else.

No idea, as it's not just about getting "better" players in those positions, as much as it is about getting better players with the right profile to fit. And players that have both the quality and the skillsets needed aren't just readily available.

If it got left to half the folks on here we'd have spent £40m on Onana last season and he can barely catch cold.

Or it could be because the way football was going it's become unsustainable to spend the sort of money needed to just get ready made stars, more so in reduced talent pool.

Last thing we needed was another 10 players on 250-300k per week and hope they don't stink the place out.

It's not about the net spend though! It's about that £280m being wasted on quantity over quality.

We ended last season in a very positive manner, especially with the midfield duo of Gallagher &  Caicedo clicking brilliantly and then linking well with our attackers. Players coming back from injuries meant that the squad only needed a few tweaks with added quality to improve a few positions.  Instead, they go and make ludicrous signings like Sancho and Felix.

Quite a coincidence that the top 6 clubs last season had the highest wage bills.

Another theory of reducing wages knocked out of the ground for 6

All clubs make mistakes in the transfer market, but how come City, Arsenal and  Liverpool don't keep making horrendously bad ones like we have been doing?  Is it down to pure luck? or do they have people making more considered signings thought out over a longer period of time  than  what our lot of numpties are doing?

Some of it is indeed luck, yes. Players settling and doing well is always an unknown until it happens, but let's not pretend these guys haven't had their share of expensive underachievers either- with the exception of maybe City. On the flip side, we could've ended up like Man Utd where they've spent over £600m on big names and are floundering away with no real bright future on the horizon without massive upheaval again.

Okay Todd, we get you. Or you're just a ridiculous apologist for these pathetic owners. Clownlake could turn Stamford Bridge into a multi storey car park and lead the club into servitude but you'd be standing on the sidelines clapping like a demented seal saying everything is tip top. Have a day off.

Because the recruitment team of the above are aligned with the coaches wishes to an extent.

Was not making the top 4 with a bag of dolly mixtures the reason poch got pumped? Or is it more likely he identified short falls and the players needed to take the club to the next level, which were not part of the TBSD script.
