Stopped buying programs years back (only bought it for Uncle Ken’s pithy remarks), and rely on the  £1 fanzine from the man on the Bridge, which is far more readable.

Ken's comments were brilliant on occasion.  One in particular.

This isn't news at all. This was reported as soon as the TBSD was finalised.

He always said he was only in the SD role until such time as the team was complete.

He took a step back many months ago.

That can only be good news for us.

Not really.

Either FFP doesn't mean a damn because anyone can just tell UEFA or FA to get lost if they think the punishment is severe or:

It means the money we have spent will get extended into 2030.  It reduces the pressure for us to get back within FFP{ is reduced and it is likely to be longer before the club comes to its senses and can re-start with a less ambitious project at a lower level.

I remember years ago James Prescott summarising FFP as being all about how much cash we spend.  That was exactly right and all those FD 2024 experts who went on about how Amortisation meant buying players cost almost nothing with FFP were 100% wrong.  It is all about revenues - cash spent.  Amortisation just averages capex  out over a period, FFP then averages the averages over 3 years, and then the rules say good years can balance out bad years.

If you believe in FFP we have a tough 7 years ahead of us.

A large number of clubs would argue that we have the worst owners in football. United for one.

Nonsense hyperbole.

Mike Ashley comes to mind as a great "owner" beloved by the Geordies.....one of a well filled membership club!

Seems to me ownership is looked upon as a cash cow by fans,,,as indeed the fans/clubs are cash cows to the owners!

Learned last night - if correct, that Clearlake is the majority shareholder (I believe with 60%) and Boehly is a minority, despite being the face. So it's possible he and his plan gets the boot, but I don't know how behind it Clearlake still are.

Another point - these long contracts are an f'in problem for us. Not because of getting rid of players, but because of the lack of pressure put on our youngsters due to the fact that they know they can do anything and have their safety and security assured for the next seven or eight years. There is no pressure in the club to perform at the highest level - and it shows.
